When Is Oktoberfest?

The 188th festival will start on Saturday 16th September and end on Tuesday 3rd October 2023. Although the festival hints at October, the majority of the celebrating is done in September, which is actually due to the festival growing longer. Starting dates were moved to September as the days were longer and warmer, creating a better atmosphere!

Where Does Oktoberfest Take Place?

Each year, you can find the Oktoberfest on the largest fairground in Munich, The Theresienwiese. The stunning bronze Bavaria statue overlooks the whole festival, and is a great place to stop for a break during the festive celebrations! The main festival takes place in Munich, but there are plenty of Oktoberfest events taking place right through the UK, so you can get into the spirit from a lot closer to home. The UK events tend to last right through October too!

What Kinds Of Beer Can You Get?

There's the music, the outfits and costumes and dancing, but we all know that Oktoberfest is most famous for its beer. The beers served at the events is likely to differ depending on where you go, but the official beer served at Germany's Oktoberfest is Festbier, a strong, pale colour lager German wheat beer! You can also expect to see beers from what is known as the big six breweries in Munich: Augustiner, Hacker-Pschorr, Lowenbrau, Paulaner, Spaten and Hofbrauhaus-Munchen.

Oktoberfest Accessories

If you've got an Oktoberfest party coming up, and are wondering what your outfit or costume should look like, then we're here to help!
